So Day 4 of the Meditation Challenge.
In the spirit of today's meditation, I am going to say it was welcome, wanted, calming, and positive. The theme was how we talk to ourselves and our body, how does our body convey messages to us about what is good and healthy and healing, what messages do we nurture and sustain, which ones do we negate? Actually it was interesting because the conversation today affirms how I work with my clients. Our brains tend to reinforce what we hold true - so if I am depressed, then I will see the world as sad, dark, and threatening. If I am happy I will see possibility, goodness and so on. We do the same with our bodies. If I tell myself I'm tired and achy, chances are pretty good I'm going to feel tired and achy. If I look for what's possible and positive instead, I feel great if I stretch, it stands to reason I will feel great if I stretch.
Another example is berating myself for not finding that "quiet" space while meditating. I could also say to myself "yay me" for sticking with it and feel good about that.
How we talk to ourselves.... worth meditating about.
Namaste

April 18 .... praying for good things...
Well the world is a little upside down it seems.
One of my best friends is going in the hospital for a major surgery tomorrow morning. I know she and her husband are afraid, worried, and trying to deal with a host of other issues, not the least of which is her mother being ill. Sometimes the universe really throws some nasty-ass curve balls.
Young pregnant daughter is having a huge drama... a dear friend of hers has suddenly fallen seriously ill - is hospitalized, leaving boyfriend's work in jeopardy, a lot of stress in the household. She has but a few weeks left of the pregnancy and things seem very precarious around her. We talk often. I hate this geographic distance between us because I would so love to be there, give a lending hand in whatever capacity, steady the rocky boat....
While middle daughter's work life grows new challenges are arising in taking care of her son. However her family that she has worked so hard to build and shore up, is rising to the occasion and they really are responding as a team. Beautiful. And then they are moving as well in 12 days...
Lots of stuff going on. I am actually grateful that I feel ok enough to respond to my friend and family in a way that is helpful. They reach out to me when they know I need it, I can also be there for them when they call out. I am grateful when all our connectedness really shows itself. I really feel a part of something bigger. Ya, like a family. Hmm...
A shout out to Canmore.... I'm praying for you all. Good luck.

February 24 ... Princess Wednesdays and then some
Princess Wednesday everyone!! What are you doing to pamper yourself today? What are you doing for YOU?
So far today I have had a great workout with trainer-dude. One session more and our relationship is over and my fitness becomes fully my responsibility! Well I'm proud of what I have done with him so far. I am very grateful that my back and body cooperated today. I feel great. No pain. Always lots of gratitude around that. I swam for 20 minutes too and that always feels great.
On a different note, we're at that point in the winter where most of the time our response to another snowfall is usually a swear word, or ugh, or something not happy sounding. But I tell you, I am looking out my window as I write and it's just soooo pretty. It's hard to feel anything but appreciative for it. There is something about stopping and admiring nature that always makes me feel happy, connected, grateful.
And finally, for today, young pregnant daughter reached out last night, told me she had been reading my blog, said it was good to be understanding me better. She had an emotional reaction to the essays posted on the Writing Blog. She said she would be interested in reading more. I'm at once elated, thankful, yes of course grateful; and afraid, hesitant, fearful of our very delicate and shaky bond. My interpretation. I can only hope and pray we're able to stay open, continue talking, continue healing, continue learning about each other, continue maybe forgiving, or accepting, or maybe both. I'm grateful that all this possibility exists. I love you daughter. And I am ever so very grateful for your presence in my life. Always have been.
Warm heart to you all.
